Privacy and Confidentiality

 

The following is the official Privacy and Confidentiality Policy statement of the

Instituto Dr. Pacheco de Psicología (IDPP):

 

The Instituto Dr. Pacheco de Psicología, founded on October 28, 1978,  is a not-for-profit organization (in the process of incorporation) established in the Dominican Republic.  It is our professional endeavor to maintain the highest professional standards in Clinical Psychology.  We responsibly comply with the laws of this country, and respect and follow the rules of confidentiality and all other ethical principles of the Colegio Dominicano de Psicólogos (CODOPSI) of the Dominican Republic.  

 

Our funding is derived from our own professional activities, and from grants awarded for research, educational, and service projects.  The IDPP strictly adheres to the ethical principles and standards of professional psychology in the Dominican Republic, and does not accept any donations or funds that may compromise or limit our professional independence.  

 

The IDPP does not endorse or recommend any commercial product or service, and any advertisement accepted to be included in our campaigns or products must rigorously adhere to our professional and ethical principles and standards, which specifically mandate that the nature of the advertisement must not promote any behavior, product, or activity that may be harmful to human beings, society, or Nature.  No commercial  advertisement of any kind is accepted for display or exhibition at our offices or Internet website in connection to the rendering of our professional clinical services.

 

Please note that although the IDPP procures the best and safest electronic services it can afford, due to the inherent nature of the technology, the IDPP tries to assure but CANNOT guarantee the confidentiality of the information obtained by our Internet, e-mail, and other related service providers, as well as by third parties beyond our knowledge.  

 

If you are a client/patient, please include in your communications your name and your reason for contacting us.  Your communication may be viewed by multiple people in our institution.  Please make sure to provide your complete name, the name of your psychologist or specialist, and a telephone number where you can be reached.  Be aware that e-mail messages may be deemed not secure.  To assure confidentiality and security of your information, we suggest you contact us in person, via telephone, or by fax.  Please see Contact IDPP for a listing of contact options.

 

The information you give us, including that which we obtain at this website (except at our Guest Book), as well as all the information obtained throughout your psychotherapeutic treatment, is held in strict confidence by us, and this confidential information would only be divulged following your written prior authorization, and/or when the situation would require it in the judgment of Dr. Pacheco and/or his assistants and collaborators.  

 

The comments you leave at our Guest Book are posted for the public viewing of website visitors, so please do not leave any information or make any comments of a confidential nature when signing our Guest Book.

 

Any consultation you request and obtain via this Internet website and/or mail (traditional, electronic, or fax) is deemed by the IDPP as a request for orientation of a general nature, not psychotherapy, and is not offered as such by the IDPP, nor in place of a face-to-face professional intervention with a qualified mental health professional.  

 

In emergencies, we request that you DO NOT use this service, but call our emergencies cellular telephone 809-838-2222, and/or 911, and/or the institutions in charge of emergencies in your locality.  By contacting us and/or by requesting a consultation, you acknowledge and accept these terms, and those in our Privacy and Confidentiality Policy.
